Ben Shapiro, CFA, CMT
President and Chief Investment Officer
Ben Shapiro brings over 15 years of Canadian capital markets experience to Lynwood Capital Management Inc. He was most recently a Vice President and Portfolio Manager at one of Canada's largest hedge funds where he was part of a team responsible for investing $750mn primarily across Canadian equities. Prior to that, he spent time in both Equity Research and Investment Banking at a North American and Global Investment Bank, respectively. Ben also has a strong executive skill set gained from board experience at a TSX listed company.
Mr. Shapiro holds an HBA degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business, is a CFA Charterholder, a CMT Charterholder, and has his CIM designation.
Elijah Minler, CFA, CMT
Investment Analyst
Elijah Minler brings over 13 years of Canadian capital markets experience to his role at Lynwood Capital Management Inc. He most recently held the position of Director at a Toronto-based Exempt Market Dealer where he was a Registered Dealing Representative, responsible for various investment, compliance and operational tasks. Prior to that, he spent several years as an Investment Analyst for a Canadian hedge fund where he was part of a small team responsible for investing across North American equities. Elijah has also spent time as a proprietary trader and as an Investment Analyst for a large Canadian-based independent Mutual Fund company.
Elijah holds an H.BComm degree from McMaster University and is a CFA and CMT Charterholder.
Val Okouneva
Manager - Compliance and Operations
Val Okouneva brings over 5 years of financial client services experience to her role at Lynwood Capital Management Inc. She most recently held the position of Dealer Services Specialist at a Toronto-based Investment Fund where she was responsible for operational, client services and compliance tasks. Prior to that, she spent several years as an Investment/Client Associate for several financial advisors where she was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for a book of high-net worth clients.
Val holds a BComm degree from Ryerson University and has completed several courses from the Canadian Securities Institute, including the CSC.
